| Auxiliary
For
several years, bricks lay on the ground and windows were stored
in a barn as area residents tried to raise enough money to build
a hospital. Finally, tired of the long delays, several women
decided they would
personally borrow $5,000 to get the construction started.
Thus,
in 1920, our hospital and its Auxiliary were born. Since then the group has been a mainstay, first
in raising funds for the original building and later in every improvement
and project the hospital has undertaken.
Over the years Auxiliary funds have helped to pay for construction of our Shore Cancer Center, scholarships,
redecorating projects, landscaping and hospital equipment. In fact, our Auxiliary has been recognized by the American Hospital Association
for “dedicated and distinguished service on behalf of the hospital.”
